Hello, I'm honored to be part of this group. My father served as an MP and patrolled the Alaska Highway as it was being built. I recently came across some of his keepsakes including these ribbons (attached file). I know what the bottom four are but I can't identify the top ribbon. Does it look familiar to anyone? Thank you!
Thank you! I never thought to search WWI. The World War II Victory medal is faded as well, so this makes sense. Now I need to find out who it belonged to. Maybe my grandfather on my mother's side. I know he served in WWI. The search begins! Thanks again R. Leonard.
I believe the top ribbon is a membership ribbon for the VFW (Veterans of Foreign War).. The VFW actively recruited members as the arrived home. Even as the came off the ships.
Thank you! That yellow stripe in the center locks it in. My did was discharged through Fort Sheridan, Illinois so I bet the VFW was there in force. Mystery solved! Thanks again chibobber.
