    Dr. Seuss the Propagandist.
    Thanks to: http://www.youtube.com/user/ExpendableIdentity?feature=watch

Oh! The places he went! Most American children are familiar with the trisyllabic triumphs of Dr. Seuss' illustrated books for children.
Many elementary schools even host Dr. Seuss Days to instill in young children the joy of reading and rhyme.
Kids read things Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears A Who, and The Butter Battle Book, but what their teachers often don't tell them
is that Dr. Seuss turned warmongering propagandist during WWII (and some of his books reflect his political views).

If you like Dr. Seuss's traditional illustrations, you'll love his more politically incorrect publications admonishing the American public to abandon their
racist viewpoints, shake off their laziness, submit to rationing, buy war bonds, and fight the war against hilariously caricatured evil fascists wholeheartedly.

WWII Cartoon Private SNAFU Dr. Seuss / Chuck Jones Warner Bros. Animation
    Thanks to: http://www.youtube.com/user/PeriscopeFilm?feature=watch

They include "The Home Front" (dir: Frank Tashlin), "Diarrhea and Dysentery" (dir: unknown), "Rumors" (dir: Friz Freleng),
"Camouflage" (dir: Chuck Jones), "Gas" (dir: Chuck Jones) and "Payday" (dir: Friz Freleng).
It also includes "A Few Quick Facts", an animation that appeared (like the Snafu series) as part of the "Army / Navy Screen Magazine" during the war.

The character of Private SNAFU ("Situation Normal: All Fouled Up") was created by director Frank Capra, chairman of the
U.S. Army Air Force First Motion Picture Unit, and most were written by Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel, Philip D. Eastman, and Munro Leaf.
Although the United States Army gave Walt Disney the first crack at creating the cartoons, Leon Schlesinger of the Warner Bros. animation studio underbid Disney by two-thirds and won the contract.
Disney had also demanded exclusive ownership of the character, and merchandising rights.

The purpose of these cartoons was to help enlisted men with weak literacy skills learn basic and important facts about military life.
The highly entertaining shorts feature simple language, racy illustrations, mild profanity, and subtle moralizing.
Private Snafu did everything wrong, so that his negative example taught basic lessons about secrecy, disease prevention, and proper military protocols.
Private Snafu cartoons were something of a military secret — intended to be seen by the armed forces only.
Eventually however, some of the less off-color toons were shown to the public.

PRIVATE SNAFU - Cartoon "Home Front" WWII - Dr. Seuss

One of 26 Private SNAFU (Situation Normal, All F*cked Up) cartoons made by the U.S. Army Signal Corps to educate and boost the morale of the troops.
The SNAFU character was created by Theodore Geisel (Dr. Seuss) and Phil Eastman, and most were animated by Warner Brothers Animation Studios.
They were voiced by actors including Mel Blanc and scored by Carl Stalling. In this episode, Private Snafu imagines the good times his family is having back home while he's stationed in the Arctic.

    Private Snafu, "Gripes"
    Thanks to: http://www.youtube.com/user/EdgeonVideo?feature=watch

Since they were aimed at adults, the cartoons ended up being quite edgy (including some of them showing bare animated breasts),
so it's definitely surreal to see Looney Tunes-style animation and hear the voice of Bugs Bunny in situations that were definitely NOT meant for the eyes and ears of children.
