A local collector near Crawfordsville Indiana had a US version of the FT17 restored to running order two years ago. It looks like a childs toy next to his M48, or even his Stuart tank.

There are the ones that were found in Afghanistan recently too. Just looking at the German in the FT-17 you can see how small they were.

I hope this isn't some failure on my part to use the search function properly, but I find no references to the Battle of Troyes on the forum so I will presume the use of S-35s by the German forces there hasn't been mentioned.

It was a minor battle, the US 4th AD performed its usual schtik, assaulted the town by an armored rush and pushed through German garrison troops. There were some S-35s and some unequal tank duels.

Since the S-35 ,though French, was not a WWI era tank it wouldn't be within the realm of this thread.

An interesting photo of the abandoned armoured draisines from a destroyed train, most likely nr 12 ("Poznanczyk"). Clearly visible is a loading ramp of the draisine 'R' in the foreground (the German soldier is on the vehicle). In the background there are visible: the rail "runner" without a tankette, the front of the draisine TKS and of another draisine 'R'. The armoured train is in a deep background. Belgium considered the FT-17/18 to be infantry tanks. 75 of this French AFV remained in service with the Belgian army in 1939.

Now here is an odd one LOL. A captured French FT-17 used by the Germans and then recaptured.

How possibly can those things have any use out of the drill grounds, towing crap through mud and security work?! It baffles the mind. How would the crew if they are made to drive it?

Good question LOL. But apparently they did work. And there were enough of them to go around. For Security they were mobile armored machine gun and they could tow just like a tractor. Notice the soldiers head in the turret. How small can it be?
