Hi - I am new to the forum, and wish to discover the value of some WWII Military items that were brought back from the war by a now deceased Veteran. I am handling the family Estate, and they don't understand that breaking up a set of collected items is a mistake. The more replies I receive from actual collectors, perhaps they will realize, and sell the collection together to a true collector. They did contact two local Museums and the museums already have these items, and aren't interested. We have the authorized import documentation, listing all the items brought back to the U.S. (I don't have it in hand while making this post), from memory some of the items listed: 7 Bayonets 1 Captured German Helmet 1 Nazi Flag (the type that hung from street lamposts) 1 Canteen 1 German Coat (other items I cant recall) and I have a PHOTO ALBUM with original half page photographs of Hitler and other War Generals, attending a parade in Poland. There are arial photographs taken by the U.S. and also many photo's of "Pictures of War" after bombings. There are large photos used as negatives for printing purposes (magazines, etc) for instance, one photo caption is: Fuhrerparade. Der Fuhrer grusst die vorbeimarschierende Infanterie and another caption reads: Fuhrerparade. Der Fuhrer im Gesprach mit dem Oberbefehlshaber des Heeres, Generaloberst von Brauchitsch. The deceased Veteran was a member of the OSS special forces and I have his handwritten list of dates and places he served, and it appears to me that many of the photographs were taken of places both before and after having been bombed. I am being told the family is keeping the items only because they do not wish and their deceased father would not wish for any Neo-Nazis or Supremist Groups to end up with the items, if I were to sell them on the internet. I am urging them to keep the items together, and to sell them to a TRUE collector (their father wasn't so much a collector, he simply collected his own items). If you would wish to see a photograph example, let me know. Otherwise, I think I've provided enough information to get a ballpark idea of the value of a collection such as this. Thank you for your time, and I can be contacted at isnoratnit@aol.com if anyone needs further information. I may have trouble locating this board post. Cordially, Peggy G.
