Buyer's Premiums are a mechanism to mislead people as to how much they are bidding as far as I can tell. I make it a point of not bidding in any auctions that use them.

    Hi lwd,
    Thank you for your comment.
Our auction company specifically mentions in all of our notes what buyer's premiums may be applied. This is to keep all bidders informed on exactly what to expect and to NOT mislead them. We want every bidder to understand what additional fees to expect before placing a bid. Thanks and enjoy your day!

The problem is how many people can quickly calculate when they bid $146 they are actually bidding $160.60? And then tax on top of that in many places. The bid should be the bid. Take your profit and the tax out of that. Buyer's premiums are fundamentally misleading and designed to increase the profits of the auction company at the expense of bidders. They should be illegal they are unethical.

It would be clearly unethical if a company didn't disclose that there are additional fees or premiums on top of an item or tried to hide them. We make them very visible and clearly state what our buyer's premiums are so that if a person doesn't like that policy, they can choose not to bid.

Sorry no. If you make it difficult for people to understand what they are actually bidding and you profit from it then you are being unethical.

Along similar lines your multiposting was pretty marginal as well. In every forum I've participated in it's been either discouraged or forbidden. Coming in here and multiposting indicates you did so almost if not purely for advertising and showed little concern or understanding of this forum.

I won't participate and I encourage others not to as well.
