    Can you imagine this?

    LONDON TIMES, June 5th 1944.

"D-day, the invasion of Normady planned by tomorrow morning at 6.00 A.M. General Eisenhower is confident in his 8 divisions".

    It's idiotic...

If the Germans thought it was decoy the invasion might succeed but otherwise a huge massacre of invasion force and Overlord would fail.

Well, in Desert Storm the media really played up all of the practice for Amphib. landings the Marines were doing. If I remember right, it was purposely stressed so they would strengthen coastal defenses. Then the coalition ended up making no amphib. assults. I can't remember if it worked or not.

Carl, if you mean becuase of media releases I would disagree..as coaliton HQ in this last war, fed the media with stories designed to aid the coalition forces not hamper them...

Id say the coalition media boys in uniform were extremely clever in their feeding the press.

Not many went out of their way to question the briefings until it became obvious from embeded journalists that the information from Quatar hq was bogus but designed to be so.

The coaliton used the press well this time around..

Unlike previous conflicts where the media on occasions managed to blurt out things that on occasions endangered our forces, on this occasion, the media war was won by the military.

How many times did the military tell the media um quasar had fallen? Who told the media their was an uprising in Basra? How many scuds flew into Kuwait?

    Who used who?

Hi Urgh--not at all. What I said in different words was: that if the war was fought like this one was--using the same tactics--would have been a disaster. [IMG]
