Thanks for the link to the story Gordon. Was an interesting read, just not quite sure what I think about the prospect of this movie yet.
It certainly does TA. Bill, Be interesting to see how many holes knowledgable guys like yourself can pick in the storyline!
I wonder where the production team got their information about the ship details? The show that I saw last month about the Yamato one of the things that they remarked about was the lack of information. They produced a picture of some detailed plans and I thought they said it was some of the only ones known to exist. Here I go off to Google to see what I can find.
I saw the same documentary that you did Big, however from the story on the link that Gordon provided, it sounds to me that the replica covered the deck of the ship only. As for this there are some okay overhead pics of the Yamato in the Naval Historical Centers website. http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/sh-fornv/japan/japsh-xz/yamato.htm As for the overhead view plans for the Yamato, CombinedFleet.com has a good one; http://www.combinedfleet.com/yamplan1.jpg But what appears the most detailed pic to me looks like one from the Wikipedia site. (Click on the pic to the left titled Yamato at Dock, to enlarge) http://www.answers.com/topic/japanese-battleship-yamato
Don´t know if the movie is ready but more info can be seen and I think I also saw an advertisement of the movie over here ( only on DVD ?!) http://www.oshipee.com/omami/e-photo-yamatomovie-set.htm http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/off-topic-misc/yamato-movie-5770.html
Just saw the movie on DVD and I think it´s ok. Some nice movie tricks but mostly concentrates on the person-to-person interaction.
