Finally I succeeded in buying somethin from Detlev Niemann. A beautiful Krim shield with clothing and paper backing for €100. Look at my new baby!!!
Good going--it is Exactly like the one I bought from Diane Schrieber from Brandenburghistorica. I got mine a few years ago--probably paid a bit much but--its nice anyway.
Carl-- This is the first type (out of three) with four prongs at the back. This type is the best when it comes to deatail. (According to Ailsby).
That looks awesome! I wish I had some extra money to get into collectign medals, but all my money goes to reenacting (which is well worth it too).
$100 is pretty good--I paid $150.00 for mine--unfortunately, but it has the backing plate, material and paper. I think I paid a total of $160 ?? For my two mint Narvik Shields--all with backing plate, cloth material and paper. My Kriegsmarine Narvik is my favorite. I'll probably get a Kuban Shield next. Currently Im waiting for the next gun show--which I think is next week and im waiting to see if a favorite Texas militaria dealer will be there and see if he still has the mint Silver Infantry Assault Badge I want but couldnt afford--because I bought an EK1 and a Uboat badge. Nice pics and that gunshow sounds tempting... If I ever get a digital camera you people will be able to pore over endless images of twisted pieces of old aircraft and inert munitions....
This Gunshow was a bust--my dealer from San Antonio, my dealer from Houston and my dealer from Farmington, Illinois--none showed up--but they are all supposed to be there in the gunshow in January. I think its Jan 10-11 or 11-12--whatever that weekend falls on. Another dealer from Houston will be there with ww2 reference books and the like. He has only one book I was halfway interested in--vol1 of a 2 vol set on German Mauser Rifles. I have volume 2 which is on German Sniper rifles and their variants. The books are by Richard D. Law and are called: "Backbone of the Wehrmacht"
