It first arrived at the front right in time to be polished and paraded around Berlin in the Soviet victory parades. :D

I liked the Russians in WWII, they fought reasonably well considering their position. I think it is also fair to say that the IS 2 is one of (if the the) best Russian tank their was. (Like you said, the IS 3 was not really used) so I like it. What do you think?

When it comes to Russian tanks I prefer the (perhaps a bit mediocre) versatility of the T34/85.

I expect it was easier to get one's hands on a T34 of any kind than a IS 1 or IS 2!

If i was to choose a Russian tank then it would deffidently be the IS-2M, because it was the only Russian tank that could stand head to head with a TigerI tank, and still have a chance of winning.

Oh yeah, and that nice and juicy "122mm L/43 DT25 gun" i like it 8) allthough it really wasnt as good against armor as it should have been. But against a TigerI the IS-2M would have a very good chance of winning, exept if the engagement was at over 1200m away, because then the 122mm DT25 gun would have really big problems in hitting anything, whereas the Tiger's 88mm L/56 Kwk36 could pump AP round after AP round after the IS-2 with deadly accuracy...

Dont know why but the KV always earned my respect. Not that it is better than an IS2 but because it stood up well to the germans in the beggining of the war.

Yup, the KV was the king of the battlefield back in 1941. It would perhaps look a bit more businesslike with a slightly larger gun though. But, it still gets my vote.

The T-35 is my favorite - it's big, and has lots of guns! 8)

Christian, I like your way of thinking. But I still have to go for the IS 2

(PS didn't IS really mean JS and it stand for Josef Stalin?)

Hey, I have same soft spot. T-35 in winter camouflage is actually quite beautiful. I've admired its look since I was 10 years old.

If we talk about the real "parade tanks", it's just the matter of T-35's. It was for nothing but showing to the crowds.
But according to favourite tanks, I prefer both IS-2 and T34/85

Well, yes, but it can also be written out as Iosef Stalin!
This is what happens to translation when 2 countries use different alphabets. ;)

However the T35 doesnt have much chance of surviving a clash with a Panther even though it had plenty of guns.

It was even good article for Germans to exhibit: "Look, people how big Soviet tanks we can destroy!!!"
    ...clear propaganda anyway

KV-85, then? I think that tank is quite awesome, even though it's really only an underdeveloped IS1 in everything.

KBO: it isn't likely that in any Eastern Front engagement you would ever get to fight Tigers. So I'll just stick with my lighter, more manoeuverable tank. :D

That T-18 is a funny looking thing. But, I think it might join my list of favourite Russian Tanks: The T-18 and the IS-2
