I've played just about every single WW2 shooter out there. Early on my "internet gaming" days I started with Day of Defeat. Played it for over 5 years. Then jumped into Medal of honor for few years and Call of duty. Played Day of Defeat:Source and Red Orchestra for few years as well during that time. Call of Duty:United Offensive was by far the best WW2 online shooter IMO. It brought just about every concept of WW2. I still can't believe that we are on 4th version of the game and UO hasn't been topped. World of War came close but IMO map size, lack of tanks and overall lack of strategy in War and Domination mode kill the game for me. Seems like they created a small map, dropped a bunch of balls from the top...let them roll and there is your flag (read: no thought to it whatsoever). Also, legal cheats AKA perks is not for me. I don't think anyone should be rewarded with extra weapons/options based on how long they play.... What I do like (goes for ANY COD game) is of course single player. They are all great...and the Co Op in WAW is awesome!!! COD:UO is by far my favorite. 88s, heavy tanks...and again the most important (map size) made it the most complete and "as close as it gets" to real World war 2 IMO. Red Orchestra is great, but little bit on a TOO realistic side...takes away from fun. No single player is a bummer..... Day of Defeat:Source I thought was really great (5 flag layout aka Domination in COD is my favorite). Just too bad they killed the game with an update a year ago or so....changed recoil/look and feel....just didn't like that at all.
Well online multiplayer nothing can ever beat medal of honor allied assault for me, i spent so many late nights on there. single player im going to have to say i love the brothers in arm hells highway the most out of any, but i do then prefer medal of honor then call of duty. though i have played others. When it comes to between MoH and CoD id say that MoH comes up with the basis and cod perfects it, but they arent the ones willing to take a plunge and take that chance. the stages in cod2 though were incredible you really could look at some stages and look at the photos of the places and see how realistic it was. I think the next world war 2 game call of duty will do will be airborne, just to perfect what medal of honor has already done.
