I have seen one or two posts on this subject in this forum, but I don't recall ever seeing one that detailed the ingredients of this paste. Does anyone know ? Marlin

Oh wow, you copied me David. http://www.fun-online.sk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1790 Look at the seventh post from the top...
Zimmerit No, seriously- it does have some hi tec content in it. What surprised me, though, from reading this website entry on it, was that the Germans had particular ways of applying it to each of their very many AFV's. By this I mean that each model of AFV had its own allocated pattern that the Zimmerit HAD to be applied in. Any ideas why this should be, anyone ? Beershark
Re: Zimmerit what do you mean hi tech content? the only function the zimmerit provided was to make the surface of the tank irregular so the magentic part of the mine won't grab the surface, and another thing, it is not anti-magnetic
Well, I guess that you had better refer to Joel's link at the top of the page, but what I meant was that the ingredients weren't a mixture of woad and wolfblood, or shit and sugar, or piss and peanut shells- they did have in the list of contents stuff that surprised me and were clearlry the results of much complex analysis than ever I might have thought. All in all, Zimmerit is much more sophisticated than might have been thought necessary in order to prevent a Russian peasant conscript from whanging a magnetic mine on your turret, and never mind about the strict orders as to the correct pattern each separate type of German AFV had to have its Zimmerit applied in ! Sorry !!!!! A thousand apologies for misnaming you ! The only explanation I can offer, is that having opened a quintal of port on Christmas Day, and having, of course, to finish it quickly before it becomes tainted, my breakfast this morning consisted of a plate of duck breast, two quail's eggs, a pair of kippers and a pint and a half of port..............and bloody good it was, too !
