something I found that I think you guys would strike your interest. It's from http://www.americainwwii.com/images/battlingbastardsnews.jpg Btw, why don't we guys pool a our newspaper headline pics together and start a thread?
The one place I previously subscribed to is NewspaperARCHIVE.com - Search Old Newspaper Articles Online You can look at the actual pages on line for a great many newspapers across the nation and search for topics in the paper too. I like Fil's idea too. Here's my contribution:
Here is a small clip I found in the Kiowa County Press from 10 April 1942. I found it interesting since Filipino and American troops had surrendered the day prior. Wasn't King in command at that time?
Texson, that's a good one you sent. Mike, I understand your point about that news clip. Still, I think that article was written to for to boost morale in the US. In all probability the guys responsible for the article didn't know that Bataan had already fallen or if they did, they would still have to put it on their next issue. How about the rest of you guys? I know some of you have bits and pieces of this stuff. Let's pool them so we can explore the past together.
I have the complete set of the War Illustrated weekly news magazine (London) for WWII. If anybody wants a headline for a banner or such, just let me know and I'll see what's in there regarding that subject. I also have the New York Times front pages from WWII book. And, of course, the one on Pearl Harbor.
