I have arrived at this site through luck rather than judgement, but having seen the wealth of knowledge and information available I am very hopeful that I will be able to learn more about a family friend who served in Bomber Command during the war. The only information I have, is obtained from some photographs found recently after a family bereavement.

It would appear that Barry Wood served as an Air Gunner in both Halifax and Lancasters at Linton on Ouse, and at Holme on Spalding Moor.
Barry survived the war, but I have no knowledge of his current whereabouts, or indeed if he is still alive.
The only aircraft identification I have is "A for Apple" on the side of a Halifax with squadron code letters "MP" which I believe is 76 Squadron.

I will submit the photos asap, and look forward to learning more from this forum,

    Regards Nabber :)

Hi, nice photos of an early Mark of Halifax with unusual nose fairing and Merlin engines.
Some details of this aircraft from a quick Google:

DK203 was one of four No.76 Sqdn Halifaxes lost on this operation. See: DK201; DK247; LK904. Airborne 1830 3 Oct 43 from Holme-on-Spalding Moor. Sgt Hayes died from his injuries 6 Oct 43; he is buried in Leeuwarden Northern General Cemetery. Sgt Skjelanger RNAF was amongst a group of prisoners who arrived at Liverpool 6 Feb 45, aboard the 'Arundel Castle'

    Sgt S. Meiran RNAF PoW
    Sgt R. Coupe PoW
    Sgt J. Skjelanger RNAF Inj

Sgt J.Skjelanger was confined in Hospital due to injuries until repatriation 6 Feb 45 'Arundel Castle'.
obviously your family friend was not aboard, but some may have been his "regular" crew.
No doubt expert Pals will be along to provide more detailed info for you.

Thanks to you all for your help and encouragement, but Icare9, WHERE did all that info come from, thank you very much indeed. In the new year I plan to visit Yorkshire to see the area for myself. I believe Benningborough Hall is now run by the National Trust,

Just enter "Halifax DK203" into Google and check out the links it provides. You'll be pleasantly surprised at how much information that might throw up for you!
