I was given a helmet from my grandpa and he said that he received it from one of his friends back in the 60’s. It is claimed to be from World War 2. I have looked everywhere online and I cannot identify it. It looks like it could possibly be a polish military helmet, but I am not sure. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks Jim
That's defenetly not a polish helmet, that's a helmut from the Spanish Army. The eagle with cross is Francisco's Franco's insignia, used in spanish civil war. Here's a great link explaining the details about the helmut. Mannie Gentile: Combat Helmets of the 20th Century: Czech M.30 steel helmet of the Spanish Civil War hope that helps..
Suzi can you post the link the picture does not show. Sunny is right Spanish Civil War Franco, Not Polish. Did you know Franco had only one Testie
Thanks so much for your help! I have been looking everywhere for any indication of where this helmet came from. I am from Chicago, IL, my grandfather came from checkoslovakia and got the helmet from a friend. I have no idea of its origins. Really cool though. I was thinking of selling it, but now I might keep it. I am guessing it is probably rare to find in the US.
It says Unsupported browser detected, but I can click on the link and see the photo. So, to answer your question, yes.
Wow, I did not know that... nor did I want to know that ...lol well, according to legend, Hitler had only one ummm... too. too much information.. and a horrible visual.
The second post All I See is an X where the picture should be, I just wanted to see the Picture The first link is great plus well done site. Ok I just read I saw the link when I scrolled down, that's not the same Badge. There's nothing to get squeamish Concerning WWII or Second World War actual documented facts. Yes that's what many have claimed, also due to Hitler was injured in the abdomen and lost one, not only them I heard others also, I even found a link calling Churchill a Hermaphrodite, LOL I always looked at this as a pattern,LOL
Spanish helmets are quite easy to find in Europe but I can imagine they are rare in the US. I would definitely keep this relic and not sell it.
I agree with skip, it looks to be in good condition, a great rare piece of spain's history to call your own.
Thanks Carl! I have been fighting this nasty cold for the last few days and I have been stuck in my bed with my laptop, so this time i got the upper advantage to jump on and answer quickly before you guys did.
Get better quickly Maam ;-)) If I were ther-youd get some good old-fashoined Chicken Soup-which dioes seem to do wonders for colds. Last one i had-about 1 month ago-I ate copious amounts fo chicken noodle soup, and iof it really does not help? I couldnt tell ;-0)
Squemish.. your talking about how Hitler and Franco lost one of their 's. fact or fiction... it's weird, hehe so did anybody check if Mussolini only had one , because there seems to be a pattern with axis leaders having this problem... hey Spaniard, did you know Napolean only had one too ohh boy, what a pointless conversation this has been. :eh:
