I woke to TCM this morning and was able to catch most of a movie I had never seen befor e (having forgotten its name as I recently found it listed in a book of movies) and it starred James Cagney as the leader of the Irish Rebellion of about 1920. The book I saw the movie listed in didnt say that the movie also had a very young-Sir Richard Harris, Harry Andrews and I think the third gent was Torin Thatcher????? Sad to see that most or all of the leading characters were killed off. I THINK it had something to do with some trrops from Scotland stationed somewhere in Ireland and the reason I say Scottish troops because their uniforms were all black and they all were wearings Tams. If Torin Thatcher was indeed the person in this film im thinking of? he played an officer in the Brit Army. Harry Andrews was easy enough to spot and he played a British Sergeant. Anyway, this movie was a damn good movie and is not at present-on DvD :-(
Hi Ray, THATS IT!!!! I knew it had a catchy name to it ;-)) (((Wondering why my first post didnt take?))) Oh and tried to give you reps for it but-the darn computer said I have to spread them around more. What do computers know?..... absolutely nothing.:lol:
I watched Inglorious b..........ds last night, and thoroughly enjoyed it, I did'nt think I would, but I give 10/10 for entertainment, typical tarantino o.t. violence but it worked well. a must see for me carl. recommend..ray..
Hi Ray, Andy (Kruska) tried to convince me to see it but-I cant stand quent and brad pitty-boy that much to see it. Maybe one year?? ;-)) The original IMO-sucked pruns pits.

Hi Ray, Gordon, Ray, great shots. I havent seen Captains of the Clouds in ages. The two Gents behind them are Alan Hale Sr and George Tobias (whom im currently enjoying watching in the first season of: Bewitched-he plays Mr Abner Krabitz) I saw Each Dawn I Die, but cant remember anything about it. It and a couple of these are in one or more of the four Warner Gangsters boxed sets. If you can get them ober there? they are all worth having. I still need to get the other boxed sets as I only have set Nr 3-and I got that set first because of one movie in that set-The Black Legion w. Humphrey Bogart. It will be awhile for me to run out of Dukes films. I have around 70 of them ;-)) Cheers Mate ) shows how much I know about Scottish Soldiers ;-)) Thanks for the link as it made me learn something new ;-))

I finally got to read this more thoroughly, thanks for the info mate. ill be leaving reps or salutes soon as I can ;-)
I'd but these if I had the money? Anything Cagney would be great to have. I once had a personalized autographed photo of him I got sometime before he passed away. Of the pics above, the only two I saw of these it: The Mayor Of hell-which is a great earlier Cagney movie and is also in the 3rd Vol ov the Warner Ganster Classics. The other of course-White Heat.
James Cagney was indeed a great and interesting actor. I always liked that one where he played silent film actor Lon Chaney. I think it was called "Man of a Thousand Faces"?

Though I have only seen a few clips from that movie, I know its a great one and one ive always looked forward to waching. Many people think that James Cagney ONLY played Gangsters and otherVillains-bigtime wrongo on that one. The more of his films I see, the more talented I see that he was ;-)) Not only could he play a badguy, but a soldier, a cowboy, a song-and-dance man, and also a Comedian ;-)
Lady Killer was a great movie and is one I have-also a part of a Box Set. The other I have never seen. Anyone here also interested in threads about Edward G. Robinson and Humphrey Bogart? :-D
