They are gutwrenching, aren't they? Those poor boys, because that's what they were, just boys really. These are phenomenal photos.
Thank you, gentlemen. It took me two days, by the way, to identify, process, upload and organize the photos before I could post them here. Dave
That's what i call "un p...n de bon boulot!"(a very nice work,or something approaching,hehehe..)Thank you very much for the time you offered to us!
Merci. To complement the photos, I found this monograph by Colonel Ralph Mitchell on the 101st Airborne Division's Defense of Bastogne. It was published by the Combat Studies Institute, CGSC, in 1986. It is 56 pages and 7.5 megabytes. Highly recommended reading. http://www.cgsc.edu/carl/download/csipubs/mitchell.pdf In addition, in the WW II Operational documents, there is a two part study Armor at Bastogne: Armor at Bastogne. :: World War II Operational Documents WW II Operational Documents: http://cgsc.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/search/collection/p4013coll8 Dave
I had a very good friend who was in Bastogne as part of the 506th PIR. Sadly he passed away several years ago, but I still remember and honor him. I had the honor of meeting him in Bastogne in 1989, a day I'll never forget. Another friend of mine almost lost his life at Chaumont. He was CO of the 8th Tank Battalion/4th Armored Division btw.
