This morning, I stopped at Ephrata on my way to New Holland, to visit Dick Winters'
grave. He is buried with his wife and parents at the Bergstrasse Evangelical Lutheran
Church Cemetery just outside of town. It was very cold, gray and raw this morning, by the way.

When I arrived, shortly after 0900, there were seven vehicles in the church parking lot. Literally across the street, at the LCBC Church, there were hundreds of cars and I could hear loud music coming from the building. Some people prefer flash and style, I suppose. Dick Winters was all substance and no flash.

He was a great hero, very much a dashing commander. He lead his whole unit very well. In Fact, not a lot of people know that Damian Lewis is British. He kept his american voice when paying tribute to Major Winters. I think it was to comfort a lot of people.
