I was in the Army towards the end of Viet whatever it was (71-72)...!<br />
Tried to go to the nam 9 times and nine times they trashed my request. Seems the <br />
only fellows they sent there were those who did not want to go.<br />
Anyway I am researching my Uncle Sam ...really, from WWII ...They kept promoting <br />
him to Sergeant and he kept getting busted on purpose because higher ranks were<br />
more likely to get shot at.<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Greetings artillery experts, I&#039;m publishing my grandfather&#039;s fantastic 500 page war journal. He was in the 9th Infantry Division Mine Platoon under Patton. I have run into a specific problem.<br />

According to the journal his Lieutenant was struggling with laying his half track mounted 75mm guns and approach him to help with the problem. Joe was in the mine platoon but had surveying experience and could use an aiming circle. He noted that these guns were French surplus from WWI.<br />

When he left for England, he was with the 570th AAA Bn, but his final pay record shows the 495th AAA Gun Bn. I know the 570th was disbanded on 30 Jun 1944, so he was transferred to the 495th sometime before. I know the 495th AAA Gun Bn (SM) landed at Omaha Beach on 23 June and participated in Antwerp X from early November 1944 till 15 April 1945. I do not know much about their...<br />
