      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Mitsubishi A6M2 (Zeke) not a bad kit, an old kit but with relatively good Tamiya quality with good fit and very little flash. But the decals are not too good. I had to soak them in warm water for about 45 seconds for them to slide off the backing and then some didn’t apply well. The holes in the bottom of the wings should have been deeper so when inserting the struts that you have a secure fit. I used Tamiya extra thin cement and I have it resting on this box until the glue sets firmly,...<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[A cheap New Ray “easy build” for $10.50. That’s what they call it, but cutting is necessary for the landing gear to fit, no problem. Serves the purpose. Comes without paint on some parts, so I painted the propellers, landing gear and guns. Actually, they install the nose gear backwards and it is in permanently from the factory, so I cut that part off with a sprue cutter, perhaps not as noticeable. I may have posted one of these previously, that I threw out. Memory fades....<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[An Atlantis kit and this is what they call it as it is to depict his plane (by tail number) when they flew off the USS Hornet to bomb Japan. Not a bad kit because the parts fit well but there was a lot of flash to be cut off. No stand came with this kit and the instructions said to put weight in the nose. So I taped three pennies inside but that was not enough because when I glued the tail assembly on it raised the nose. So I could depict it as taking off but for now I put that block of wood...<br />

I believe a long time ago Testors snap together had the art on the fuselage. But this is just a cheap knock-off version of it. Bought at Hobby Lobby for $11.00 on sale. Comes pre-painted but I painted the propeller, cockpit, pilot and wheels. Sometimes I just like something simple but still had to use glue even though pins and screws were provided. Atlantis is doing a bang-up job with these old model kits, no flash, no warping but some of the holes needed boring out. Now this one came pre painted and I added appropriate colors. Now the decals are to scale and the even included the decals for the name on the stern.  But there were the EAE decals and the sounding marks which were too minute for me anyway.       <content:encoded><![CDATA[Of a B-17 from “NEW RAY.” But I glued the pieces anyway. Had to glue the stand because it was flimsy. Nothing was painted except the red paint and the lettering on the tail. I painted the guns black, which are really too thick and I cut them shorter with a spru cutter. I painted the propeller centers chrome, the tips yellow, the wheel center chrome and the struts chrome. Put some letters and a number on the fuselage with a magic marker and with freehand and a bit shakey I had to do the one...<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I had done this one a few years ago but didn’t like the paint job. It had too many coats of paint to try to get the color right. I threw it, after a few years too. This one flew off the Gilbert Islands in 1944. Sometime in mid or late 1944 they went from the tri color blue to all blue. I was not about to attempt that anyway. I bought this can of spray paint at Lowe’s, Krylon matte midnight ink. I’m happy with it ……….basically. The decals are of good quality. The wing to root fit gave me some...<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[Supermarine Spitfire, gained immortality during the Battle of Britain in the summer of 1940. The main role was to intercept and destroy Luftwaffe’s fighters. This particular aircraft came moulded in light gray out of the box and I used a light brown paint for the camo and olive green for the rest. Flat black and yellow for the propeller. Decals were of good quality and I used Tamiya extra thin cement. The light brown Testors paint did not cover too well so I had to go over it several...<br />
