Yeah but if you look closely you can see the holes in the magazine for the sound box. It was the Mattel toy version not a real rifle. And BTW Kodiac the military M-16 rifle does have a metal butt plate.
My M4gery doesn't. I'm pretty sure if I butt-stroked somebody with it, I'd just snap the pin that adjusts the length. That's OK, if I ever use it for actual social work, I'll be using the bulletty function. View attachment 22900
Im with Kodiak on this one, I just don't think it would stand up. There is one really long screw that holds the butt stock to the rifle. The butt stock, it's self, is nothing more than dense foam covered with plastic. The butt plate is rubber with a metal trapdoor. I am not saying that I would want to get hit up side the head with one; but, I wouldn't be horribly surprised when it shattered, although, I have never seen one break either.
we were hauling A out of the bootcamp barracks one time and someone accidentally knocked a 16 off a rack it was slung to, and busted up the stock pretty bad when it hit the deck
To get back on track, how do you jam an AK? Apparently, the shots fired were with the pistol, then he managed to hit the mag release and lose the magazine. Genius! The AK was jammed from the beginning. I'm wondering if he was trying to quietly load the AK by sliding the bolt forward slowly? With an AK (with any self loader, really) you have to pull the handle all the way back and let the bolt "slingshot" forward. If you try to ride it forward slowly with your hand it will double-feed and jam.
UK news site says the guy had a Luger. I'm guessing 'no'. Might be an innocent translation error though. Maybe the French just reported that caliber, the way we might say he had a ".45 automatic" they might have said he had a 9mm Luger. Still the coolest looking pistol ever made. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/11818934/France-train-attack-Moroccan-terrorist-Ayoub-El-Khazzani-linked-to-Isis-live.html.
I saw a guy stick a rifle barrel about six inches into a bad guy's ear once. I'll let you guess how he got it out.. (Relevant only in that either end of a rifle can be dangerous in unexpected ways.)
I must say I'm a little tired of the 'Murica posts about this that I'm seeing on some of the dumber American news feeds. A 28 year old Frenchman jumped in first and wrestled the AK away, and a 62 year old Brit jumped in with those young Americans and did his part. Another French/American "academic" jumped in and got wounded for his trouble. it sounds like everybody within range jumped in and did their part. The young Yanks were just more athletic and capable of giving the guy the beat-down he deserved. It's just heartening to know that all westerners still have some brass balls.
Indeed the first two were apparently French with the one that got shot being the second one in. He apparently got the AK away from the terrorist at least for a short while. I think I read that while he is French he was born in the US though. IMO the American who even though wounded treated him (impression given is that he kept the guy that was shot from bleeding out due to the neck wound) deserves a lot of credit for clear thinking but the first two in took the greatest risk and provided the inspiration.
Would anybody been a little tired of the GIs and their friend if they had sit quietly and waited for their turn to get shot?
I think Kodiak's point was that while the Americans who took action deserve a lot of credit so do the others involved. Some of the articles have almost completely neglected to mention the others. Although to be fair at least one of the others doesn't want any noteriety from his actions and another is in the hospital where the press can't get to him easily.
It would be helpful to remember that the actors didn't tell their tale so as to diminish anybody's role in the events. I would hope that "aggravated posters" would be clearer as to who they were aggravated at lest confusion be generated as to the target(s) of their post.
Indeed most of those involved highlighted the actions of others rather than themselves from what I've read. And there was some very good reporting as well. The account given by the wife of the person who was shot was well written and very illuminating. It's where I read about the individual who almost lost his thumb to a box knife being the one who kept pressure on the injured mans neck would to help prevent him from bleeding out until relieved by a medical crew. So it's not even all reporting that's bad. For the record that's the way I read Kodiak's message by the way. He thought that the reporting, especially here in the US, was not giving enough credit to the other players. Indeed looking back he specifically said: Then went on to point out the actions of some of the other players.
