    Hello,

I would be interested if a Raf expert could give me a few hints about the activities of 212 Squadron in France during the Battle of France. I know they had Headquarters at Orleans. Apparently they used Blemnheims, but I'm not sure about that.
Did the Raf use Villacoublay as well? Any information about Rouen would also be welcome.

Thanks Wessex, I see Boos near Rouen, but this a may 1940 of northern France so, Orleans is not on it , it would be on a June map. Orleans is 120km south of Paris.
What does Air Component mean ?

The Air Component was the RAF part of the British Expeditionary Force and would operate in support of them.
As opposed the Advance Air Striking Force of bombers who would attack military targets in Germany.

Excellent links, now I am starting to get an idea. Thank you for this great information. I always wondered what 212 Sq duties were. I will no try to figure out where they were in France.

two other hints: I have two names of bases near Orleans which had Raf units in June 1940 : Sougy and Ouzouer le Doyen . Were those places used by 212 Squadron? Ithin Sougy was used by 103 Squadron ,but it could have been shared. 142sq used operated from Villier Faux which is not too far away.
