Good stuff, I'm sure tomcat and sommecourt will play also.

Two things, 1) What do you mean by "gamey tactics" and who will determine this? You? Wouldn't this be a judgement call? 2) Let's play these games simultaneously (both axis & axis on the same map), so we can cut down the tournament time. This will also prevent someone who won big from playing a boring, conservative game to secure victory. Sound good?

Good stuff Tomcat. I added you to the list on post #1.

I'll be sending out a mass email to everyone here at the site and among other items will mention this tourney. I'm hoping for 16 and hopefully we can get through the whole event in 2009.

I'll award a nice prize to the winner. ;)

Yes, thats what I meant by Two Games at a Time. I can rephrase that if you like. But the idea is that you send two-files with each email. One from each side.

I was also thinking about using a CAT for TomCAT.

    Some Additional Information:

Time-Zones: Worried that your timezone is 5 hours ahead of everyone else? Don't worry! Since the game is played via email (you send your opponent a .txt file) time-zones have little effect on game play. It might only mean getting out 1-turn a day, but it keeps things moving and as long as the 3 - 5 turns a week rule is met, there are no issues.

Policies: If your opponent hasn't notified you of a temporary leave-of-absence and hasn't responded to any emails from you for 7 days, please contact Mussolini and Otto. If your opponent does not respond after getting PM's from Mussolini and Otto, his (or her) game will be declared forfit and will be eliminated from the Tournament. In other words, if your opponent fails to respond for two weeks, they will be disqualified and you will automatically advance to the next round.

Gamey Tactics: Gamey Tactics are anything from using known exploits and other unfair tactics to gain an unfair advantage over an opponent. For instance, rushing tanks to capture or neutralize a flag in the last turns of a game is a Gamey Tactic. Using German Flak Trucks, which have known Exploits, is also considered a Gamey Tactic.

I don't want to make any promises about playing in this tournament because I just bought the game, but I am curious as to what the time frame will be for the tournament?

There will be 3 or 4 days in which I will be away over the Christmas holiday and I would like to know whether this would be worth thinking about.

I believe that it will not start until after the new year begins.

Correct. This probably won't start until the first full week of January (January 5th). That will allow certain people to get the game over the holidays and crack it open ;) It also allows people to go on vacation for the season and return.

Joe, I'm afraid that the smilies I am using are pre-made and on the forum already. There is another cat one I can use though ;)
