Loading practice. No aimers in their seats, no helmets on some troops.

The wrecks of German supply ships sunk or left derelict at Narvik in Norway after the Royal Navy's attack on 13 April 1940.

Battle of Narvik with several ships on fire at the harbor

The Germans lost over 1,000 men, a U-boat, and eight destroyers. With the losses from the previous battle this constituted 50% of the Kriegsmarine's destroyer strength.

I prefer the Montana Class, in particular the one that was to be the USS Louisiana, BB-71.

    (Borrowed from wiki)

Louisiana was to be the fifth and final Montana-class battleship. She was to be named in honor of the 18th stateand assigned to the Norfolk Navy Yard, Portsmouth, Virginia. Louisiana would have been the third ship to bear that name had she been commissioned. By hull number, Louisiana was the last American battleship authorized for construction.

"Pair of P-38s make a low pass above the runway at Shemya Army Airfield in the Aleutians, Aug 1st 1945."

There's a picture of a P-38 wading around a flooded runway at (I believe) this airfield. As if the snow wouldn't be bad enough.
