Snow at christmas? Now that would be amazing. Xmas in Australia is the middle of summer hitting around 40 degrees C, there is a common joke of Santa in a singlet, boxer shorts and thongs.

That's pretty good, Tom. My sister actually lived in Australia for a year about 40 years ago. She sent us a Christmas card with Santa on a surfboard. It got quite a howl from the rest of the family.

Much of what you all posted above are some of my fondest memories of Christmas. A couple of newer "'traditions"' I started when Christmas is at hand is-a day of great movies and in this order: Every year for at least 20 years, I have started Christmas day with:

Boys Town: w/ Spencer Tracy as Father Flannigan-Mickey Rooney-and Bobs Watson.
Next is: Mutiny On the Bounty w/ Clark Gable as Mister Christian, and Charles LAughton as Captn Bligh.
Then came, Sergeant York w/ Gary Cooper, Ward Bond, Noah Beery Jr and Walter Brennan. My favorite line in this movie comes from an elderly gent who is talking about the Yankees coming down the road.
Finally, I end my Christmas Marathon with: The Fighting 69th: w/ James Francis Cagney, Pat O'Brien as Father Duffy, and Alan Hale Sr. as the Sergeant.

New Years also has a movie tradition-and it's ALL JOHN WAYNE ;-))

    1) Starting with: The Searchers.
    2) Next comes: The Alamo.
    3) Then comes: Hondo.
    4) Needing to think of our Vets some-next comes: The Sands of Iwo Jima.
    5) Finally ending it with a Christmas theme by watching: Three Godfathers.

Holidays movie viewing cannot ever get better than the above. If I decide to stay up late and after I finish all of Dukes films, I will watch Toshiro Mifune in: The Seven Samurai.
