I watched this TV show 'Future Weapons' on the Discovery channel where I found out about this bulletproof vest called Dragon Skin. They shot at it with an M16, AK47 and MP5 and it was not penetrated. They even put it on top of a fragmentation grenade, blew up the grenade, and the Dragon Skin was not penetrated, although the outer part was shredded up. Is this true?

The Dragon Skin armor is very tough stuff. However, the US Army doesn't authorize it's use due to being "heat sensitive". Allegedly the polymer that it's made from weakens as the air temperature goes up.

The Army claims that the tests that the armor was put through was done at room temperature and not at 140 degress F.

I saw the video clips on youtube. Impressive piece of work.

I dare any soldier to risk his life jumping on a grenade like that. Broken neck, guy dies anyway.

Of course Canada's got one better (so they say anyways).

From the inventor of the Bear Suit, and Fire Paste, comes the Trojan battle suit. Far as I can tell this exoskeleton is fully powered and rumour has it that it comes equipped with a magnatic shield that will deflect bullets. And it looks like a Mjoliner suit (Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Mks 5 thogh to 8 I believe)

I still think the Bear Suit looks better. Doesn't have a buttt ugly laser tracking system between the eyes.

The world of modern armour. Not your usual Kevlar vest. We've gone a long way from animal hide. Anyway, on that same episode I learned about a grenade launcher firing grenades that are more powerful than normal grenades. Plus a new antiballistic missile system.

Mind you, it has insufficient armour for the feet... ;)

The Trojan suit is a fantasy it appears. The inventor would not submit to tests with live projectiles and no military was interested in buying it. He went bankrupt and put the prototype up for sale on e-bay as" memorabilia and costume paraphernalia only" and nobody was willing to pay the price he wanted.

edit..Looks like he is trying again..he has relisted the prototype on e-bay "one last time" with a starting bid requirement of $125,000. Bids placed so far = zero.

Heard he was selling it for 15 grand (15,000 dollars, likely CDN) a peice

The technology he has developed thus far is plenty enough.....not exactly practical (Bear Suit.....I doubt bears would be driving cars into people)

Firepaste on the other hand.....Coated a helmet with it and had some guy put a blow torch to his head for ten minutes......temperature on his head went up maybe two degrees.

    Dragonskin plus Firepaste......

Would probably equal some pretty nice armour.
