Here are my last guesses: now I have quoted all the GeschwaderKommodoren so I should at least have two. : W. Balthasar E. Mayer, K. Ubben and K Bühlingen. Enough now, I"ll let PzJgr get a headdache too.
Sorry guys but I was actually posting an answer to the other quiz and somehow ended up on this one. I could not delete the post. No headache, just butter fingers.
...Skipper.. yes you got two names right !! ..von Bülow-Bothkamp was the first Kommodore of JG 2 who was replaced during the summer of 1940 as commander of JG 2 by Major Wolfgang Schellmann. Schellmann would command the Richthofen for only a matter of weeks before handing over to Helmut Wick (correctly named by Martin). That leaves the fourth name, a humble Ofw., he received his RK in September 1940... name him and the floor is yours Skipper ..if Martin gets him, I'll have to award the question to him on the basis of fewer guesses..
Gee I deserved that one didn't I? I"ll probably have to ovedose on aspirine for a week to recover. So here's my quesiton: What was the Motto and number of the Dutch Raf Squadron?
OK, an easy one - where and on what date were the first King Tigers ( also known as Tiger II or Royal Tiger ) lost to direct enemy fire....?
In 1942 the Germans captured several dozens of French Dewoitine D520 in the former free zone . Several were used as training aircrafts, but some were sent abroad to the fronts in Europe. So where were they sent (2 countries) and how many each country got?
Thank you sir. We all know that there was postwar production of the JU 52 by the Spanish manufacturer CASA. There was also another country licensed to build postwar versions of the JU 52. Name the country and company?
That is correct. Now, I never knew that. I always heard of the Spanish CASA 352 but did not know of the French version until I purchased some books on the JU 52 which stated that the Germans had the JU 52 produced in France during the war. Afterwards, the French continue production. Interesting piece of info. Over to you Skipper.
Amiot was a famous aircraft company in France which confiscated by the Germans in 1940. They brought over the Ju52 technology with them and had Amiot buid their own aircraft. After the war the Amiot engineers still had the caapcities to build Ju52s and they kept on doing so. The Toucans flew in Indochina they were very good quality, but terribly slow shaky and noisy. However they would keep on flying with bullets holes and would be very reliable in terrible conditions. Here's my question: What was the name the German defensive line on the westfront against night bombings?
