Good stuff. I had heard about this ace, but had no data on him. Very cool. Norways ace of aces had 17 victories.Would make a good book, Scandinavian pilots of ww2. Well minus Finnish ones as these are well known. Denmark had a few.

    Dear all,

I have in my collection some items from Thorsteinn. He lived closed to me and I spoke to him several times before he died. He published a book about his wartime experiance, called "Dancing in the sky"

But Thorsteinn was not the only Icelandic ace. Before him, there was Sir William S. Stephenson, a WWI ace with 12 airvictries. His mother was Icelandic, but he was born in Canada. He is one of the West-Icelanders, as we call them. In WWII he was a spy master and trainned spies, including one Ian Flemming, author of the James Bond books. Google this man and you will find he was a very interesting character. Apperently Ian Flemming said, that James Bond was a highly romanatzied version of an actual spy, one William Stephenson.
