    Max H. Yager
    (1915- 2008)

    WEST UNITY - Max H. Yager, age 93, of West Jackson St., died early Sunday morning, December 14, 2008 at Bryan Community Hospitals in Bryan, Ohio. He was born in West Unity, Ohio, on July 2, 1915 to Marcus and Amanda (Soldner) Yager. He married Virginia (Shilling), who survives.
    A lifelong resident of the area, Max was an honorable Army Veteran of World War II.
    He was the owner and operator of Unity Grain & Fuel for over 40 years.
    Mr. Yager was a member of the VFW, West Unity United Methodist Church, and the Chamber of Commerce.
    In 1997, Max was honored and named Citizen of the Year in West Unity.
    He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia Yager; three daughters, Nancy Gormley of North Kingstown, R.I., Martha Grove of Paducah, Ky., and Marlene Casebere (Husband-Steve) of Bryan, Ohio; one brother, Dr. Carl Yager of Tiffin, Ohio, and six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Florence Steger, Lucille Filip, and one grandson, Christopher Gormley.
    Private Family Graveside Services will be Wednesday December 17, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity.
    Burial will take place at Floral Grove Cemetery.
    A memorial service for Max, will take place on December 27, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the West Unity United Methodist Church, 311 North Liberty St., West Unity, OH, 43570. Visitation with the family will follow the memorial service.
    Memorials may be made to West Unity United Methodist Church, West Unity Chamber of Commerce, or the West Unity Area Foundation.
