The passing of another exclusive member of The Bunker. Sad too as von Loringhoven was a true Gentleman. I had the pleasure of corresponding with him a few times several years ago. The Baron always had acted properly and to associate him with that term "nazi" really is unjust.
Those news-writing vultures, did the same thing to another Baron I once had the pleasure of corresponding with. That man was: Baron Burkhard Freiherr von Mullenheim-Rechberg. If his name rings a bell, he was 4th gunnery officer on the Battleship Bismarck. Was also one of the few survivors as well.
As far as I know, the only other notable member of being in the bunker who is still alive (can't spell his name correctly but I think it is: Mishkus Rauch or something kinda similar) was a Waffen SS Sergeant/and bunker radioman.
Well spotted jp, an interesting read.
