Was living in the USSR that difficult? I watch some of these videos and get a sense that there is great pride in Russian WW2 accomplishments. Is this genuine or am I way off in my observation?

While I have moved to the states at a young age and dont remember life in the USSR, I have since been back many times.

Yes, Russians in general are very proud of their accomplishments in WW2, myself included. ;)

They do have every reason to be proud. Do you think this pride extends to the younger generations?

I know I'm genuinely concerned by the lack of knowledge exhibited by young Brits, let alone any pride.

It appears the Russians focus on educating their people on WW2 and their accomplishments in that war.

No, it was the land of milk and honey :D Read Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich" and the "Gulag Archipelago" for a primer.
