Ships and Passenger Lists of Polish WW2 DPs arriving from Africa and Europe text from link.. The majority of displaced Polish nationals arrived in the UK by sea in ships listed below and in most cases their names can be found on each ship's passenger list. There are at least 3 sailings where the ship's manifest states the number of aliens that sailed but the actual passenger list is missing, . There were also at least 15 overland transports by rail from Italy which carried over 4000, mainly women and children, from camps in Trani and Barlette. So far no passenger list for those evacuees has been found. Most of the medical staff and equipment from Polish field hospitals in those areas also made their way to the UK either by train or ship. I have been unable to find lists of Polish troops arriving in the UK. Civilian records to which I have access simply state that a contingent of so many troops sailed but there are no nominal lists, presumably, these will be held by the Ministry of Defence and I have yet to find them.
Now that's interesting, Ray. I've never really studied DPs, and there only seems to be one book on the subject that I can find.
