Forgive me if this is just a massive dupe post, but I searched and couldn't see anything on this board about it... BUT, the History Channel's show WWII in HD is in my opinion the best WWII documentary made. I found it absolutely excellent. Never have I wanted to watch 10 hours of a documentary so badly!! I probably watched in 2-3 days even though I was very busy at the time--I just wanted to keep watching it further each time an episode finished. The first episode is maybe my favorite show (that's not a movie) about WWII ever made. It is extremely well put together. It starts with some of the most haunting footage of kamikaze attacks ever--one shot is of a Japanese plane hitting within a 100 ft or so of the camera! Then the story of an Austrian escaping Europe and finding his way to America is particularly emotional and intense. A HUGE recommendation to anyone even remotely interested.
Thanks for the review. I bought the dvd as a Christmas present to myself. I've been catching bits and pieces on History Channel but i'm looking forward to sitting down one weekend and watching it straight through.
