There is no record of the JS-3 ever fighting in WWII. A small unit was stationed in Manchuria, but there is no evidence of any actual usage.

 

You are right in asserting that no substantial evidence exists to prove that the JS-3 ever saw combat... I have heard rumors that it fought during the defeat of the Kwantung Army in August 1945, but thats not evidence

However the point remains that the tank was 'operationial' during WW2... It was at least, as you say, deployed in Manchuria and it participated in a 1945 victory parade in Berlin... therefore Gunter's question "was it used in ww2" has to be answered with a 'yes' whether or not it saw combat...

 

I was thinking that too and i found it more appropriate to answer "Yes" to Gunter's question...
