    Depends on tank. Late 30's tank armour wasn't that thick and could be penetrated by heavy machine gun or AT-rifle. And even early 40's tanks could be disabled or damaged by AT-rifle.

    A big one :)

    Tank armour up to the early part of WW2 was mostly quite thin, and could be penetrated by a powerful rifle firing armour-piercing ammunition. See this for more details: http://www.quarry.nildram.co.uk/ATRart.htm
