As far as I can see , the U.N. was established as the diplomatic equivalent
    of the local pub .
A place for public posturing and private mediation ,
it is a meeting place where issues can be presented , threats made
conter-threats given , discret signals exchanged and deal explored
the job of the secretary general is ( in this imperfect simile ) to keep
the people shouting at each other and not shooting

    it involve
    1- not taking side
2- giving respect to the big guys
3-letting the small ones make lot of noise
    4-setting maximum standards of misbehaving
5- putting down hard on the rough stuff

mr kofi Anan was chosen as part of a complex deal , to be a nonentity
    so far with success

the U.S. has lost patience with the whole hypocritical thing
while europe doesn't mind hypocrisy so much and value it above war,

    it's so much cheaper

"Iran informs of attemtps of missile, difficult detectable by radar.
This missile can hit a few objects at the same time.
General Hossein Salami said of big importance of this attempt for defensive capabilities of Iran and biggest means tactical & technical of new missile, but without any details.
Irani TV talks of "Intercontinental Ballistic Missile" Fajr-3 (Fajr - victory in farsi language), suggesting 2000 kilometers of range.
This missile can come to Israel and to Middle East American bases. Fajr-3 can transpose nuclear warhead.

    Hello Cipherq !

no problems with what an iranian general said about theirs hight tech
weapons , theirs strenght is in the low tech stuff , assault guns , RPG,
divisions of fanatical revolutionnary guards to swarm over the iran/irack
borders, plus some anti shiping missile in the 100 miles range type
silkworm to stop oil tankers in the straights of ormuz , that is a worry,
they have long range rockets but nothing serious ( yet ) to put in it .
if they want to drop a few conventional warhead on israel , it's no big
    deal really !

In Islam when you die in combat fighting for a cause don't you become a martyr?

I know it sound silly but so far the iran war scenario is procceding
    like the irak one ,
it's the same blueprint , same rationalisation , same
demonisation of the other side and same trigger mechanism ,
it's as if the pretense was enought
I've watched it cooking since two years ago with the the three amigoes
uk ,france , germany doing the roping , next is some befuddled
" international resolution " and the word " go "
everybody assume than it's brinkmanship negotiations wich it isn't
or than george W. is a fool, wich he ain't .
we'll see soon , before the mid term elections if this keep to schedule

    :-?
