Many know that Hitler was attempted to be assassinated several times. I would like to open up the subject for debate. The devils advocate in me says that if Hitler were assassinated, and someone with the brains and compromise like Rommel or Goering were to take charge in his stead, then the war I believe would have lasted longer. If not given the germans a fighting chance. (Depending on which year of course). Any thoughts?

It's a case of "the devil you know." He could have been assassinated at any time(by the allies). The big question was Himmler,Goebels and how they would have conducted the war. Hitler was his own worst enemy and the powers knew it.After the break out, victory was inevitable even with the Bulge happening.

Absolutely right. Could you imagine the powers of Germany under someone else? Someone whom didn't hate the Soviets or the Japanese? Fn scary if the axis had their ducks in a row....
