I am looking how I can get more information on why an Flight Sergeant got the AFM. I know that it was for NCO's & Men for acts of valor, courage & devotion to duty not in active service against the enemy. What kin dof actions would this entail? Rescuing people out of bombed out houses and thus saving lives? Is there a way I can find out about this? Are there citations for these medals? Also, were these mentioend in the Gazette? TIA, Stevin
Stevin The AFM should be in the London Gazette. If you can find it! The search engine is hopeless. Also even if you do find it, it may only mention the award and not give details of the actual citation. There is a better search for a relatively small cross section on my site www.156Squadon.com Thanks again for the photos, will put them up shortly. Regards Robin
Thanks for that Robin, I will check your site later. I haven't been able to find him on the Gazette site. The other pics will follow! Stevin
Found him on you site, Robin and thanks for the link to the Gazette! Indeed only the mention, no citation. At least I have the date now! Thanks again! Stevin
