Any "fans" of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant chain?

One of my neighbors is dreadful, when he fires up his BBQ its like watching the Industrial Revolution all over again...ton of fire wood and smoke that you could cut with a knife. You could just see Gordon (well known British chef) Ramsey turning up...F'ing hell you stupid F'er, F this and F that before he calms down and shows them how to cook on a Barbie. :lol:

 

Just dont order one from a McDs in either Eck or Konstanz. The one in Eck was bigger than the one in Konstanz but really looked nasty. My friend Susanne had oen and thought it was the best she ever had. Oh how the Germans are so deprived? If they ever come here to Texas-Ill take them to a place that has the best burgers you would ever want to dine on ;-)) WalBangers is the place and is only on Corpus Christi.

 

You are owed a soon as I get more. I watched Hells Kitchen and that other show he had a few times, the guy can have a temper-I guess from not drinking as much Tea as he should have while growing up. :lol: :lol:

 

Kentuckey Fried Chicken, (as opposed to the current corporate incarnation of KFC), arrived in Australia sometime around 1974. The line-up for this most gourmet of 70's fast food in this country was astounding. Stretching round the block, a visit to Kentuckey Fried chicken could take anything up to an hour and a half. There was a wait to get to the register, then another wait while the chicken was cooked, (the large demand meant that all chicken cooked was instanly sold. When you got the stuff home, it was far too hot to pick up, and an impatient waiting process began.

The result was simply the best fast food ever...

Why does today's KFC bear no comparison?

For a start, it was cooked in ANIMAL FAT, rather than bloody canola oil. This gave a much higher cooking temperature, and contributed to the flavour.

KFC, as we know it today, is the processed version of the best fast food ever. It's definately an inferior product.

I do wish they would cook it the same way again. Slower as it was, it was still a much better product. I couldn't care less about the health issues. You do not eat fast food for a healthy meal, you eat it for the taste.

Like every other product thats mass produced, KFC does not stand up to the original concept. When i visited the U.S., gossip from chicken buffs that I met told me that a chain called POPEYES does things the old way, chicken for flavour rather than just turning out a product that I can eat instantly. I don't mind waiting for good food, and am always suspicious of fast food outlets that are TOO fast.

Bring back Kentuckey Fried Chicken, and ditch KFC.

 

Yes, VB, next time you are down south (in the US), you must visit Popeye's. For me, it's is the best, but for others, it is too spicey for their palate. You can get it in the non-spicey regular flavor, but if you are going to do that, you might as well go to Church's. I haven't been to KFC since Popeye's came to town in the 70s, so I wouldn't know how to rate it.
