Yeah, with a big fireball and mushroom-cloud probably. And people being hit by shrapnel from the bridge explosion.
Stefan, are you talking about SPR? We were talking about Stirling bridge battle in the XIII century...
Anybody remember the scene in "Pearl Harbour" where U.S. navy personnel, after jumping into the sea with their ships bombed, swimming for an hour or so in burning water, had nothing better to do than cheering Ben Affleck and his Buddy who swept away the Japanese Air Force? Or the "Doolitle" raid, where they were ordererd to "bomb only military targets", lol, I wanna see that: a suicide mission and dropping the bombs into water if they don't find a military target, huh? Classics.
The only thing I liked about the Pearl Harbor movie was the action scenes--I admit--they were pretty good--maybe not accurate but, pretty good. I think the rest of the movie was VERI schlecht.
Yes, Panzergrenadier, I can imagine William Wallace in his Tiger tank giving his "Free men" speech to the men... "Pearl Harbour" I have said it: GUAC!!! I do agree with Carl, only the effects were good. The script, the historical accuracy, the love story, the music, what a filth!
I hate Pearl Harbor. One of the big reasons why is because they named it Pearl harbor and said it was for the men who fought and died there. It was really just a hollywood love story with action scenes not a tribute to the men who fought there.
I think " Pearl Harbour " was only a huge movie in Japan?? Do I remember right? Anyway, it is truly boring except for the battle scenes. They are great. The good thing about DVD is that you can go for the scenes selection and forget the rest, unlike with VHS at the time. The attack in Pearl Harbour is great, but I have also checked the Battle in Britain part where Ben flies a Spitfire quite often lately. Looks great! Maybe there will be a Battle of Britain movie one day. I do think the computers are capable of it by now. With lots of romance ?
My favourite part of the whole film is precisely the part of the battle of Britain! WOW!!! It is just AWESOME!!! Those three minutes are worth the whole film! And by the way, I am writing a novel about the battle of Britain. It is not finished yet and I think it won't be finished in a while, but I want to show the tremendous valour of the British, the desperate situation of the country and the miracles that happen... And yes, there's a love story... That's Friedrich...
For starters the mosin nagant 91/30 sniper rifle on the movie cover is wrong. It's fliped so it would look better on the cover. If that were the way it realy was it would have a left handed bolt. Also the whole movie was wrong. It realy made me mad. Read "War of the rats" that's almost 100% correct. Also there was more demonizing and animalizing of the russians. for example. Zietsev was a Navel infantry man he was not in a penal regiment. Also he didn't have a british accent. Another thing the russians wouldn't shoot people for cowardess like they did with the machine gun. It may have happened a few times maybe a lot but it was not common place to machine gun people like that like the movie would have you think. Maybe in a penal regiment like the movie portrays they might machine gun them but the movie like I said makes it seem by only showing one scenario leading you to think it was done to everyone. Instead the commaning officers were supposed to help, encourage and guide uncertain soldiers. Only deserters were shot on the spot. I thought that the movie was a good one, but it portrayed the russians as generaly backward, animal like, uncouth people. This is not true. If you have ever realy known one you would know what i mean.
Also another thing that irritates me is the fact that The character Ed Harris plays is Major who ever (I can't remeber the name) and the real person was a colnel who's name I also for get but If I rember I'll put it on here if any one ells knows it could they put it on here for me?
Yes, in the film his name is Major Königs. And the real guy, I think was SS Standartenführer Torwalt. That's all I know... Ah, and that he made a lot of damage but the Soviet snipers surrounded him and killed him like a dog...
As posted on an earlier thread once this bogus movie came out......none of the so-called named German snipers ever existed. The W-SS sniper school was not formed until after Stalingrad. E
Yes, that's true. However, there were indeed sniper duels in Stalingrad. Zaitsev and Chernova existed, but not a real and so famous German sniper...
