We have mail in ballots here. Matter of fact, we voted last week! My concern is; Will the ballot make it to the court house for counting? Hoping the mail carrier is, if not honest, at least leaning the same way I do. How easy would it be for some of the ballots sitting somewhere (in the basement?) get mislaid and not make it to the counting room. I guess it all comes down to - we have to cross our fingers and close our eyes. I think every ballot should be hand counted regardless. Use the machines but - here we go again- Verify. If too many discrepancies arise, have a "Do-Over" and charge the entire cost to the providers of the machines.
Clint we have that type of balloting here in Orygun and have had for some years, it works out great, no long lines, no shoving or dumb-A** attitudes by voters... biak it comes down whom do you trust to get your vote there ? we actually walk ours down to the court-house and hand-deliver
First off, the chances of your mail carrier knowing or caring about you personal political leanings seem rather remote, and I live and have always lived in a small populace state. Even in the largest city in my state, Billings, I know my mail carrier by name and am curious when he takes a vacation and isn't at my box. He could care less what is in my ballot envelope, and delivering it to the USPS center for re-sorting as quick and easily as possible is his only concern. From there it is automated, and sent into another group of boxes for delivery to our election center for counting. I'm not too worried myself, double sealed (in Montana) envelopes seem pretty safe to myself. If my ballot doesn't make it to counting time, I won't get another mail-in ballot next time. That is our law, if my ballot isn't counted I have to start over to get the absentee crap going again. I know this because a neighbor died before she could vote her absentee ballot in 2010, and it wasn't returned. Her family was notified that she would be removed from the rolls until she re-registered to vote in Yellowstone County.
Yeah I thought about doing that but it's a 50 mile drive to the County court house where they are counted. I look at it this way, I voted, I know who I voted for and there are 170 million others in the same boat as I am. You just have to show some trust sometimes. But I bet there is going to be a Bru-ha-ha before this is over with. Voter ID, long lines and closing of polls before everyone has voted and the usual claims of fraud from both sides. God I wish it was next year and Urgh was back
Looks like the one person I had no second thoughts about voting For but couldn't due to not living in Illinois won her congressional race. Congratulations Tammy Duckworth.

Unbelievable, absolutely unbelievable! I woke up this morning and the Sun rose just like it has for Billions of years. Gravity didn't reverse itself and fling me into the ceiling. The lake still has water in it. Life goes on.

sadly Lou it is happening already. I agree with your above poster statements exactly from Mr. Jefferson, we should be big enough to suck it all up if our candidate(s) lost and move on in a positive manner........
You can click on the six pointed star to the right of the salute button to add reputation points when you run out of salutes. But in the meantime I will throw one to Lou for you.
