The German doesnt have his hands up-he is concussed froma direct hit from a 2.36inch bazooka round to his position-he was still brandishing his machine-pistol.
Anyway, that incident did not really occur...

    Brad:
The weekend training is only for one weekend out ot the month, and can be anything from just one day (usually a Saturday), an overnight thing (Saturday morning to Sunday around noon) or a 2 night thing (leave Friday night and get home Sunday night).
The length of summer training depends on what you're planning to be...it usually lasts between a month and a month and a half.
I'm planning on going into infantry.

I always thought the part in bastogne where roe had to put almost his entire arm inside of the body of a casualty to find an artery was pretty rugged. Noises and all. And in one of the two winter episodes where the GI is shot in the throat and has to be left there, gurgle-ing to death.

I found the incident of the severe wounding of Bill Guarnere and Joe Toye to be the most disturbing. After getting to know Guarnere and Toye through the previous episodes, it was difficult to see them laying bloody and mangled after the artillery burst. I could relate to Buck Compton's feelings at seeing his buddies in that condition.

Tho I now own the series in a Tin can--I still have to wait till I relocate before I can even think of buying a DVD player to watch my growing collection on. (Big Sigh)

I STILL havent seen the series yet :( only parts to two episodes. The only thing I remember from what little I ddi get to see was: an episode with a Carrot-topped Paratrooper who is hiding in a Barn or Garage and the Germans are in the area. He gets into a bayonet fight with a German soldier and makes his escape. The other episode I barely remember is one with a Captain who seems to be writing a report of somekind and he keeps having flashbacks.

Errrr--I cant wait to see the series. Two episodes a day. [IMG] Maybe more :D

Im back. Whhhhooopppiiieeee. I've been gone 4 a while because my modem broke.

I believe the most sickening moment of BoB was during the attack on Carentan when a soldier looked up at Bull Randleman his leg got blew off. Bull Randleman then carried him off. (by the way this was on the DVD episode, it was an extended bit that had been cut off from the original)

I would have to agree with the Doc there, both accounts are very bad-the guy with the stomach wound, spitting blood on himself-YUK!

And also, John Julian's neck wound was plain ghastly, I feel really sorry also for Private Edward 'Babe' Heffron who had to watch Julian die-and couldn't fulfill his promise to him... :(

Ia Drang?!?!?! That's where my pop was!!!!

By the way, I got David Webster's book Parachute Infantry from the library yesterday and read half of it (I'm trying to quit smoking, so I had nothing else to do). Have you read it? It's pretty cool - so far the only "main" characters he bums around with alot are Hoobler and Martin. It's much less colorful than BoB, but he has a really bad attitude, which in my opinion, makes it great. His family has a pretty cool site set up for him, as well.

    Hello: Thanks again El Dunce.
Does anyone remember that one in Bastogne where when some soildiers were out on patrol and one got a shot to the throat and his buddy could not save him from the line of fire? that may not have been the most discusting but it made me sick.

Jet – Re your signature ”He who dares wins”, I think you’ll find that the SAS motto is Who dares wins, and your version appears on a buckle because the owner of the mint where it was struck, (in Friern Barnet), gave the wrong instruction to his die-maker. ;)

    DU-CE!!!!!! DU-CE!!!!!! DU-CE!!!!!! DU-CE!!!!!! DU-CE!!!!!! DU-CE!!!!!! DU-CE!!!!!! DU-CE!!!!!!

I've always wanted to make one of those Il Duce stencils that you often see panted on walls during the war and paint on the walls all over town. That sure would confuse people around here
    !!!

My great uncle on the italian side had a framed pictue of Il Duce up behind his bar, I GUESS as a joke. Funny thing was, he was in the US Navy.

Sorry about the Hijack, back to BoB.
