I'm sorry. I only injected a little humour, because I did not know the answer & did not want to spoil the question by posting a guess.
They are both animals, multicellular, and insects, but any more specific then that they are not related for all I know.
I was planning to dig in to it and see at what level (kingdom, family, order etc) they were related, but completely forgot.... stupid homework. Nice one though, next please (slightly less hard if you can)
Six legs, facetted eyes, three-part bodies, exoskeletons... All those things that make them insects, really. Some ants also have wings. And both star in Monty Python episodes (though ants do more often than bees, having two whole episodes named after them).
Both live in a hive society where a queen is central. The queen produces sterile female workers and the occasional new queen and males. Both tend to defend their nest/hive/mount with quite some vigor. Most species of ants and bees gather most of their of food from plants. Both are found around the world.
Say what now?! Either stinger can be translated in a way I didn't know, or we are defenitly not talking about the ants commonly found in my backyard.
