The day of the first bombing has now been officially recognised as the bombing of Darwin day...to be recognised by ALL Australia (Darwin has been commemorating it since 1946)...

Here's one very good bit of reference that includes the Darwin raids in fairly good detail: Every Day a Nightmare by William Bartsch.

id reccomend googling modern Darwin...looks a fair bit different...but the harbour parts are there...and the Fuel storage...get an aerial shot and you can see even more...air fields, old ground runup concrete for the Catalinas...Gun Point still has its old emplacements...and most of the old names are still used...(1 Mile camp - 19 mile etc) Still possible to hunt around the old airfields and find parts...ammunition still too...the odd .50 cal or .303

Cool. That is why hollywood should dry up and disappear. Would much rather see an HD computer rendering rather than some twisted overpaid actor. Pearl Harbour comes to mind.

Darwin wasn't the only city / town hit. Broome got bombed several times as well. Many of the aircraft listed above as lost at Darwin were really lost at Broome where both the USAAF and Dutch had evacuated many of their aircraft from the DEI.
