    After WW1 the monarchy lost political power. ;)

    the monarchy had held no sway in british politics since well before the napoleonic wars!

    I don't know about that. Its true that days of monarchs that ruled by divine right ended a long time ago but you can certainly get as far as Edward VII (1901-1911) and find monarchs who helped shape national policy.

    True enough. But I think that even those days may be behind us, given the scandals that have plagued the Royal Family for so long.

    The last monarch to have any real power was Victoria.
    These days the Monarch's only real function in terms of running the country is ceremonial, and as ambassadors. Which is why I love Prince Phillip so much! ;)
