    In other news, recently captured documents suggest President Davey is developing a new secret weapon..

    And a brief report dated August 31st 1939:
    The 2nd Panzer Division was on the move today heading for an unknown training area in Western Germany. The crew were unable to tell me of their possible destination however they did say they were looking forward to a couple of weeks of rest after spending almost a month preparing to defend their Fatherland against acts of aggression from the west. A Gefreiter who wished to be known simply as Meyer said to me that he 'gives thanks nightly for the Fuhrer who in his wisdom has appeased the aggressive French and British who are intent on bringing ruin to our nation.' He went on to tell me that his father had been in the battle of Verdun and that he had blamed the French for the versailles 'dictat' but made it clear that he was hopeful. 'This is a new type of Frenchman, their new president is a good man, level headed and committed to peace. We need more men like he and our Fuhrer in this world.'

    Other soldiers interviewed seemed confident that this would be a lasting peace, one officer echoed comments made by the Fuhrer when he said 'we are now free of Versailles, we are equals in Europe, no one can dictate to us and we are free to choose our friends and to defend ourselves against our enemies. That is all we want, the freedom to lead our own nation and to make it great again.'

    The tanks were followed by truck loads of infantry who stopped in the village to refuel. Again these men seemed hopeful that the peace would be lasting. A Feldwebel organised his men for a photograph in front of their truck saying 'come on, lets show your wives and mothers that you are safe, the Fuhrer has made sure you will stay that way!' The men cheered and after the photograph had been taken and joked about going home soon. The mood was wonderful and I too must join in thanking the Fuhrer for saving so many young lives.
