The Arrow was good guys but I think too much mythology has been built around it...

I love it when people tell me it would still be flying and top of the line today HA! Ya ok! For that matter lets scrap all the CF18s and bring back our F86 Sabers lol hahahhaha

Yes the government is trying anyways...

    Back on topic.

Do you all think the Leo will fair well ? Or do you thing heavy armour is not the right kind of system for Afghanie land ?

    Part 2

With the biggest threats being IEDs (of all sorts) and RPGs is there any links out there to studies on Leo armour and how its stood up ?

Actually I wasn't referring specifically to this thread when I used the term "poorly informed people" but to some people's perception that I staunchly defend all things American on these forums and I was explaining why. If however you wish to apply the term to yourself, that is up to you ;)
As for grade school banter though I might refer you to your earlier taunting and mocking post with unverified claims of how the Canadian navy made fools out of the USN.
As far as being well informed goes perhaps you can enlighten us as to how you have first hand knowledge of the events you described as occurring? If for instance you commanded one of the subs I will probably be willing to accept your word as to the outcome without corraborating sources :D

They should do alright. It depends a bit on how they are to be used I suppose.

The Leopard is comparatively lightly armoured for an MBT, they're base armour is probably vulnerable to RPGs. Having said that it's the C2s that are going and they carry a few extra tonnes of Blohm + Voss and Deisenroth appliqué armour so it's impossible to say. Unless it's a Candian study it won't be applicable to these tanks.

There doesn't seem to be the wide spread use of command detonate mines and road side bombs as in Iraq, but these have been able to take out an Abrams or Merkava I see no reason to think the Leopard would fair better. The added armour may even make things worse.

Poland has previously enjoyed Leopard 2s in small number I estimate around 40-50.
They also have an upgrated T-72 the T-91 Twardy (Twardy = Hard in Polish).
Also Poland's bulk of tanks at least to my knowledge teh T-72.

Don't mock the Arrow...it makes me do annoying things.

She wouldn't compare to modern fighter is some respects but:
    1. One of the first fighters with fly-by-wire
    2. Only armed aircraft capable of Mach 2 with inferior engines no less (Iriquois bent the airframe of the American bomber used to test it so badly the bomber was eventually scrapped)
    3. Was one of the greatist thing ever produce by our little aluminum boat building nation....after burning the White House in 1812.
    4. Was a hell of a lot better than BOMARCs

No one said they were equal to modern fighters (at least I didn't....I think)

See? I told you it made me do annoying things. :D

:D Not mocking the Arrow just love it when people talk like it would still be roaming the skies as a top of the line fighter.

No worries as a fellow Canadian I can admit that it would have had a profound effect on our areospace industry
