I posted the pictures from the auctions you won Carl , I hope these ar ethe one syou wanted me to post . I will let you add the comments. Cheers.
Hi Skipper, thank you for posting these. I can't stay long today as a thunderstorm is going on outside and couldnt be here since Wed thanks to losing power thento a thunderstorm. The pic of the destroyed Panzer-was taken on the outer boundaries of Leningrad. The paperwork shown is the actual unit info sheets that lists all mens names and addys and such who were in the 2nd Kompanie 1st Panzer Regiment. This list also includes the names to a few RKTs ;-)) Igotta run-thunder and lightening going on. See soon as possible? Carl.
Since we still have bttery power, ill try telling what the pics ave. 1) A Panzer Regiment on its way to the Eastern Front. I don't know which unit they are from. This was one of I think 5 pics from the same unit and I couldn't ger the others because I was offline for 2 days. 2) Newly minted holder of the EKII, in a unit that is shown in Bucharest. I don't yet know which unit this is? 3) Gebirgsartillerie in action. 4) Panzer destroyed outside of Leningrad. 5) Infantry on the move. 6) General visiting one of his Regiments HQs. This was 1 of 2 pics showing this General but I missed out on the better one. Thank you for posting them for me Skipper ;-))
so Carl do you know the Artillerie piece that the Gebirgsjäger is manning ? almost looks to small a chamber the barrel to be a 150mm but too big for a 105mm, unless a special mtneering aquirement ...... E
Hi Kai, E, Kai, thank you my friend and glad to be able to show off a bit ;-)) E, im not sure of its size but will look it up in a book I have that should have info on it. I think it shoud be in the Handbook of the Army I have. i too think it's a 150mm based on it's looks. That would be a Gebirgs Heavy Arty piece and I don't recall which units had what allotted to them? It'll give me something to look forward to researching this weekend-same as for the men on that info sheet im getting.
Carl the whole thing looks small overall to me, sadly the net/brush one cannot see the extent of the barrel but am assuming it runs of the top of the photo. heavy support wheels and arms so yes probably a 150mm or a conversion unit
Hi E, I hadn't had time to look in my handbook yet but your probably correct. I assume its at least a105? Don't know if i can get back here before MOnday to reply to anything but will see if my book IDs it.
Hi guys, I see Carl could put his comments. I would have posted the pics without the proctection band, but that means Carl would have had to scan them them first and send them over to me , which is precisely what he has trouble with (he's from the old generation) , so this is the solution he found to allow you to see the pics he bought.
ah no worries about the protection band, makes no difference to me - their still great photo's and i enjoy viewing them! great buys Carl
Thanks guys and I should get this batch in in about 10 days. Ill make a CD for skipper as soon as all come in im waiting for. Also, for those interested, I got my book abot all the CCC in Gold Recipients listed and pictured in it. The book is extremely heavy but-simply put-is bad a$$.
Hi Skipper, you will get at least two CDs when I can get the 2nd one made. Im not sure how ong its going to be before all my pics-including the Stalingrad and Kursk pics arrive. Since the images on the 2nd CD will mostly be snapshot in size-I might be able to get all of the rest on it. Then i'll start working on getting anough pics to do a 3rd CD ;-D I almost forgot, that CCC in Gold Recipients book is great. I've already started making notes on correcting some info that isn't all correct-in Fellgiebels book. I need a 2nd copy of his book no-to keep as a collectable and clean and unmarked as such ;-)) Oh and, for those interested in the DKiG guys, ill have that in hopefully sometime in April. Im doing a trade of sorts to a Gent who will be coming out ahead in this trade providing I can convince him to buy me books for trading of militaria. :-D
I can't wait Carl, I have an enveloppe with things for you that is almost ready too , I still need the time to finish and to add a the explantions that go with them .
Thank you Skipper, and I am hoping that if I can get to the post office this Sat-im hoping to get that Large portrait pic out that I wan't to give to you. This is the one with a WWI retread German Offz with Dagger and Imperial BWB. Oh and if I find more of the lead toy soldiers I h ave-ill send them for your kids to enjoy. These are 1/72nd scale like those mounted on Pennies, but are at least 30++ years old. I thought I might have found the box they were in-but no luck so far.
The kids do enjoy these, one of them is actually painting them, but don't make big expenses sending lead across the ocean.
Hi Skipper, glad to hear they are getting usage. Also, no prob about mailing them. I can combine them if I find them? when I send you that Helmet ;-))
