    It's outside !!? I've been lucky enough to see three and they were all hanging from the ceiling ! I "think" I heard one over Chico California ( just a few seconds North of Beale, when they flew over.

    That is actually an A-12 Archangel, not a Blackbird as noted on the picture. The A-12 was smaller, slightly faster and could fly higher than the SR-71 Blackbird it evolved into. The first five A-12's had the J75 engine, and could do Mach 2.0, those that followed had the J-58 and could do Mach 3.35. The particular A-12 in the picture is the "Titanium Goose" the only twin canopy trainer version built. I've seen the one's on display at the Huntsville Spaceflight Center (great museum) and there is one on display at the USS Alabama in Mobile.

    I'm keeping my fingers crossed, I Might, Hope, Oh Wishing, to meet a really truly A10 Pilot ! Just found out a few weeks ago a family member has a stepdaughter that flies these things !! Thunderbolt II, be still my heart.

    I met some of the guys who ran the high altitude studies. Very casual about seeing the curvature of the Earth during their daily job.

    it’s mobile…so indeed would prove a difficult target…the idea is sound…mine would have been bigger though, and faster. WW2 with bazookas etc…a death trap. But traversing no man’s land, drawing fire and driving right up to the machine gun pit…I’d rather be in this than just running at a machine gun.

    It was a death trap. Which is why Italy only made 2 prototypes. The other prototype mounted a 45mm mortar.

    Any anti-tank rifle would have turned into Swiss cheese. A Ma Deuce would have done the same, only faster.
