    My dad's brother was a sub-mariner, served on the USS Conger and USS Cochino. They were test boats for a lot of new equipment post WWII in the late 1940's-1950's. He was involved in the incident where the Cochino was lost, they were spying on the Rooskies at Murmansk and Arkhangelsk.

    Pte. James Gillispie Blain, 15th Battalion Australian Infantry, wrote from Egypt on 28th December 1915 to thank those who had sent the Christmas billy-can he had received. He had been evacuated from Gallipoli after aggravating an old back injury.

    And back when we had Subic Bay Naval Base the LBFMs would swarm you when you got off the ship, you didn't have to go looking for it. It was the wild, wild west. My brother still has a T-shirt hanging in his man cave that says, "I love you too, no shit, buy your own f**kin' drink" he picked up on a liberty there.
