This is all the caption said: Ordnanceman secures 16 inch projectiles in ammunition storage space below decks of battleship. I think they're the real deal.
"Bonnie" will be at Oshkosh for Air Adventure 2023. EAA AirVenture Oshkosh | Oshkosh, Wisconsin | Fly-In & Convention I won't make it there but keeping my fingers crossed to maybe see the P47 again later this year. One of the best things about this whole thing is General Dunham's daughter saw the plane during it's restoration and will watch her mother's namesake take to the sky !
My Bonnie lies over the ocean My Bonnie lies over the sea My Bonnie lies over the ocean Oh bring back my Bonnie to me
Yeah bring back, ah bring back Oh brink back my Bonnie to me to me(to me) (Ah bring) Oh brink back, ah bring back Oh brink back my Bonnie to me
Hence the nickname Jug for the P47! Rumor has it a general visited a training field and a few were standing on their nose and he said, " Looks like a bunch of milk jugs".
From what I've found those are AP rounds. HE rounds have a small bulge at the tip. Posted a video here, http://ww2f.com/threads/military-youtubes-and-videos.75543/page-29 post #571.
